Youth aged 16 to 19

If you are between 16 and 19 years of age and want to attend upper secondary school, you need to do a Norwegian language course first. This will take you one or two years to complete. Oslo Adult Education has special classes for youth. At the end of the course, you go through a test which will decide whether you can go straight to secondary or whether you need lower secondary courses first.

If no lower secondary course is necessary, Oslo Adult Education will help you apply to a course in upper secondary school. Everyone between 16 and 19 years of age has a right to secondary education.

Studying in upper secondary school entitles you to a scholarship and a loan from The State Educational Loan Fund. Get more details about the application process here.
