Introductory programme for refugees
The Introductory programme is open to refugees who have lived 2 years or less in Norway. The aim of the programme is to qualify participants for a job or further education. Newly arrived refugees who settle in bydel Alna will have a contact person and follow-up on health and psycho-social issues, family, housing, job placement and langauge training.

The Introductory programme coordinates other public offices and actors that are involved according to the individual refugee's plan of action.

Qualification programmes in bydel Alna:

Skoleverkstedet (language workshop)
This is a full-day qualification programme with Norwegian language training combined with canteen and kitchen work.

Tekstilverkstedet (Textile workshop)
Tekstilverkstedet offers Norwegian language training (spoken Norwegian) in combination with textile handicraft. Two different courses are offered: A one-day course in sewing where you may keep and use the finished products, and a 4-day course where the finished products are for sale.

Each course lasts for 10 months. If you want to follow a course, apply before 1 May.


Do you have small children and need to learn Norwegian?
Norwegian classes in bydel Alna are offered by Oslo Voksenopplæring Smedstua.

Language classes for women are held in Furuset Church 3 days per week (Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday). Course provider is AOF Oslo. Child-care services are available in Regnbuen barnehage during course hours. Contact Oslo VO Service Centre to register.

Minority advisors
If you know little Norwegian and would like some help in finding your way in Norwegian society, bydel Alna has minority advisors (minoritetsrådgivere) who can assist you. A minority advisor is a resource person with an immigrant background who knows the Norwegian society, with the added experience of being part of a minority.
