Kindergarten
It is common for Norwegian children to attend
preschool or kindergarten before they start compulsory school at
the age of 6. They play together, learn to socialise with each other,
and of course they also learn Norwegian.
If you want to know about kindergartens in your area you should
contact your urban district administration (bydelsadministrasjonen).

telephone numbers to Oslo's urban districts.
If you have small children (preschool age) and need to learn Norwegian,
there are courses with child-care facilities. These are mainly on
offer in the urban disticts (bydel). Click here,
choose your bydel, and find out if there is such courses
on offer in your district.
When children are 6 years old, they start school. Click here
